2024: week 45.
monday, november 4.
normally the time change throws me off for days, but i actually quite appreciated the way the sky looked when i woke up and drove to pilates for my 6:30am class.
tuesday, november 5.
this morning, i read exodus 4, which is where moses tells god he can’t do what god is asking him to because he’s not every good with words and he gets tongue-tied and… and then god is basically like, “well, i made your mouth. so.”
god doesn’t say it like that. he does the thing like he does to job, where he asks a bunch of rhetorical questions to prove he has power over anything moses is hesitant about.
what kills me is that moses responds to that, not with reverence, but by being more direct about what he meant: “just please send someone else.” like he is just flat-out telling the god of the universe no. what a bold move.
god gets mad about it, but he doesn’t storm off and say, “forget you.” he just gives moses aaron and reiterates his instructions. and i just keep thinking about how god doesn’t give up on us. probably because he knows how he created us, he knows we have it in us, and even if we flat-out ask him to pick someone else, he’s still like, “no. i will do this through you.”
if moses says anything after that, we don’t see it in scripture. all we see is that he took action and the story continues on.
wednesday, november 6.
i coworked with sj at switchyards this day. i ran errands, and then i had co group this night.
the sky was so moody, and you can’t really tell, but there was a bit of pink in it as the sun was setting behind the clouds.
thursday, november 7.
i got coffee with a friend and then spent lots of time working on the book i’m writing.
friday, november 8.
lani came to switchyards this day, where there is also this pretty yellow tree outside.
saturday, november 9.
i found something i wrote five years ago that felt like it was written for myself on this day, when i happened to re-find it.
sunday, november 10.
i served at church, made some phone calls, read, and caught up with lani in the kitchen until it was a reasonable time to get in bed.
