what is this for?

Happy 2024!

Every time I write the date in early January, it takes an active remembering to swap out that last number.

It's twenty twenty four.

Or, FOR.

This idea keeps circling around in my mind.

2024 seems like an opportunity to remember what it's all for.

What I'm doing this for. What life is for. Or, who it's for.

For me, it's Jesus. It's the Kingdom of Heaven coming near.

I have outlined practical goals that speak to my physical circumstances, but if I lose sight of what it's all for – it can get pretty distracting. Or disappointing.

What I see often does not match what I believe is true. And it's when I focus only on what I can see that I start asking things like, "What is even happening?"

But when I remember what it's all for, I remember that I do know what's happening. God is working – in all the things – for His glory and for my good.

It goes both ways, you know. We are for Him. He is for us.

It all sounds really nice, I know. And I also know that it begs the questions, "But what does that mean for me in real life? What does that look like on a Thursday?"

I don't have all the answers, but I think it's worth talking about. That's what this space is for.

To remember, if nothing else, that the power of God is in you, even on a Thursday.
