2024: week 9.

monday, february 26.

Different house, same obsession with the pink skies.

I brought my car to the dealership where my brother works and got to see how he has a Star Wars bobblehead and a picture of his daughter on his desk. Sounds about right.

Also, my car is now fixed and has the right size breaks on it and stuff. Wins all around.

When you just need to get in some lunging during your evening walk. (And when you’re close enough to pop over for an evening walk. !!)

Adding this zoomed and cropped photo of when we were playing school, and my nephew pulled out the Bible and started reading to us from Esther.

tuesday, february 27.

My mom’s homemade chocolate chip cookies have been my absolute favorite, but my body doesn’t appreciate some of the ingredients she uses in her classic cookie recipe. Recently, she’s been trying her hand at gluten-free baking (!!), and this time she made gluten- and dairy-free cookies.

I got home from working at a coffee shop with a coworker who lives in Charlotte (which was so fun!) just as my mom was taking cookies out of the oven, so I obviously needed to eat one immediately — backpack still strapped on and all. They were so hot and melty that I had to eat it with a spoon, but you do what you gotta do sometimes, you know?

They were so good. Still my favorite cookie.

wednesday, february 27.

I took the day off and basically third wheeled it with my mom and my niece.

thursday, february 29.

My nephews asked me to take them on a date while I was in town, so after I worked a half day, we brought Uno No Mercy (which is maybe the worst version of Uno you can think of — I lost almost immediately) to Starbucks and then browsed Hobby Lobby. I love them so much.

When we got in the car to go back home, I said, “Wait! We have one more thing.” Because I love a good car selfie. I’ve been taking them ever since they were literal babies, and now one of them doesn’t even need a booster seat. What.

friday, march 1.

I took another half day, had lunch with my dad, and popped in some stores with my mom after that. Here are some Polaroids to show for it, including the one of the dining table and chair that my mom accidentally snapped when I handed her the camera. That one makes me laugh out loud when I see it. It’s actually quite nicely framed for an accidental snap.

Friday night was a Crossfit competition night, which I believe they call “Friday Night Lights.” But that will never not remind me of Tim Riggins and Coach Taylor, so.

The day before, when they announced this Crossfit competition workout set (or whatever it’s called), T and I discussed extensively how much you had to do with a 15-minute time cap. She was excited that she could do the workout as written, but she wasn’t sure she could do it in 15 minutes. But then SHE DID IT. Because she is so strong, and I’m so proud of her.

saturday, march 2.

I drove back to Nashville. There was no traffic on the drive the to Charlotte or back, and I really appreciate that. I went to the grocery store when I got back and continue to be obsessed with what the sky looks like when the sun rises and sets.

One of my favorite things about my friend SJ is how she will always remind me of what’s true, and on this night, she literally pulled her Bible out of her bag to read it to me. I snapped this photo just to remember it, and I’m really glad I did because this was a night and a conversation I keep pointing back to.

sunday, march 3.

Sunday was a sweet mix of being restful and productive, and also included more conversations with spontaneous Bible reading. That happened three times this week, which doesn’t necessarily mean anything, but it’s my favorite when things happen in three’s.
