2024: week 4.
monday, january 22.
Please enjoy this low quality photo, taken through the screen in my window, of a PLOW going down my street.
Someone tweeted that they had a plow come down their side street the day before, and it was the second time in 30 years that they’d ever seen that happen.
I almost wasn’t going to post the photo, but honestly it’s proof of the miraculous, so here it is.
Better late than never, I guess.
(And better low-quality than nothing?)
I referred to Monday as “melting day.” Because after a week of below-freezing temps and 7.6-ish inches of snow and ice, we finally went above freezing.
I could literally hear it melting as I worked from home on Monday, and it was a truly glorious sound.
tuesday, january 23.
Church on Tuesday night was so good. I wrote more about it on Thursday.
My pastor said this about repentance, which I didn’t mention on Thursday, but I keep thinking about it.
repentance accelerates the works of God in your life.
Years ago, after watching a friend experience an incredibly expedited work of God, I had so many questions about what her faith looked like leading up to and during that season.
Her response was not quite what I was expecting. “Honestly,” she said, “it was a lot of repenting. God would point something out, and I’d repent.”
I never forgot it, but when my pastor said that, something clicked.
The Israelites grumbled and didn’t believe God, and what could have taken 11 days ended up taking 40 years.
Because of Jesus, Holy Spirit in us, and the power of repentance, what usually takes years can be done in days.
Which isn’t just a nice idea. I’ve literally seen it happen.
wednesday, january 24.
I woke up to this text from my sister on Wednesday, and it was the sweetest. Nephews are the best.
thursday, january 25.
I didn’t take any photos on this day, but I got some pretty incredible news at work that I will maybe write more about another time. But I will say that it was what I like to call Ephesians 3:20 in real life.
now to Him who is able to exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
Literally above what I could have asked or thought about.
friday, january 26.
I spent the afternoon at my favorite coffee shop with some friends and watched the sky turn colors as the sun set.
saturday, january 27.
Saturdays are my sabbath day, which basically means it’s my day reserved for rest, for things I don’t ordinarily do in a regular day, and for doing what sounds fun to me.
So, obviously, pancakes.
sunday, january 28.
Sundays are for week-prepping. And this week, I have new notebooks. Neither of which are black. And I’m obsessed.
That’s all.
